Spring is off to an early Start

There's this lovely spot in Münster on the Promenade where a few cherry trees grow. The past few years I've always wanted to use that spot for pictures, but never got a shoot together in time before the blossoms were all out. This year I was lucky enough, Spring is kicking in early here, and the bolsoms started flowering. Way before my they normally do—which would have coincided with our move into our new place. The weather played nice with us and gave us a nice warm sunset to work with.

Es gibt da diese wunderschöne Stelle and der Promenade in Münster, dort wachsen ein paar Kirschbäume, da wollte ich die letzten Jahre schon immer wieder Fotos machen. Leider kam mir immer wieder etwas dazwischen. Doch dieses Jahr hatte ich Glück. Der Frühling kommt früh in Gang und bescherte uns jetzt schon die volle Blütenpracht. Was auch ganz gelegen kam—die normale Blütezeit wäre genau mit unserem Umzug kollediert. Jeden falls hat uns das Wetter einen warmen sonnengeküssten Sonnenuntergang beschert, was wir auch gut aus genutzt haben.

Baby-Bauch-Shooting with Sylvia in Datteln

My wonderful wife is expecting our second son any day now. She's supposed to be laying down and resting a lot, but she really, really wanted to have some pictures while she is still pregnant. So we found a spot in the woods where we could drive in and she didn't have to walk much. I love the spot we found, perfect for a relaxed maternity shoot. Best thing is—it's just a few walking minutes from where our new home will be.

I'm very happy with the results, and Sylvia was also pleased. I was so glad to show her how beautiful she still looks, especially since she often mentions how she feels kind of tumefied, tired, and not very elegant currently. ; )

Meine wundervolle Frau ist zur Zeit mit unserem zweiten Son schwanger, und es könnte jederzeit so weit sein. Eigentlich sollte sie ja nur ruhen, aber sie wollte wirklich unbedingt noch ein paar Baby-Bauch-Fotos solange es noch geht. Wir fanden einen sehr schönen kleinen Birkenwald in dem man mit dem Auto rein fahren durfte. So musste sie zumindest kaum laufen. Der Wald ist wunderschön, und nur ein paar hundert Meter von unserem neuen Heim entfernt. (Den werde ich mir mal für zukünftige Shootings merken müssen).

Ich bin super zufrieden mit den Ergebnissen, und ebenso Sylvia. Mir hat es viel bedeutet ihr zu zeigen wie schön man auch trotz Schwangerschaft ist. Auch wenn man sich bei Zeiten, wie sie verlauten lässt, nur noch aufgebläht, müde fühlt, obendrein mit der Eleganz einer angeschossenen Gazelle ; )

Johanna & Nicole

I was happy when Johanna asked me if we should shoot again. I have a new beauty dish that I wanted to test for quite a while now. She spontaneously brought along her friend Nicole, so we decided to do another girlfriends shooting.

We started out in the backyard for the last few minutes of sunlight. It was interesting light; slightly cloudy but just barely enough for the blue to shine through.

I really find the light a beauty dish creates interesting. It really has an nice glow to it. Generally soft but a hint of stronger shadows. To those interested in such details: I positioned the light above camera about 7 feet high pointing down at about 45º. Occasionally using a reflector to fill in from below.

Ich war total happy als Johanna mich gefragt hat ob wir mal wieder Fotos machen können. Ich habe eine Beauty-Dish bekommen die ich schon länger mal richtig testen wollte. Johanna hat dann spontan noch ihre Freundin Nicole mitgebracht, also haben wir direkt ein Freundinen-Shooting draus gemacht.

Anfangs waren wir noch im Garten die letzten hellen Minuten auskosten. Wir hatten total interessantes Licht. Es war leicht bewölkt, aber so gerade eben das der blaue Himmel noch durch kam.

Ich finde das Licht von der Beauty-Dish sehr interessant. Es hat so eine gewisses leuchten. Recht weich und sanft aber auch ein hauch harte Schatten. Für die Interessierten: das Licht habe ich ca. 2 m hoch positioniert und 45º nach unten ausgerichtet, und gelegentlich mit einem Reflektor von unten zusätzlich ausgeleuchtet.
